ALPHA FEMALE History

The Pilot Seasons (2019 & 2020)

On January 12, 2019 the first "Alpha Female Tournament" was hosted at Vista Ridge High School. Besides the "Girls State Championships Invitational Tournament," hosted at Thornton High School, the Alpha Female was the only girls tournament that was not hosted alongside a boys varsity or JV tournament at the time.

CHSAA Sanctioned (2021-2024)

CHSAA sanctioned Girls High School Wrestling in Colorado for the the 2020-2021 season, which was delayed, shortened and adjusted due to the worldwide pandemic. Our "Alpha Female Tournament" was only allowed to be a tri-meet in 2021, but we adapted to continue supporting the growth of girls wrestling the best we could. In spite of a worldwide pandemic, 80 wrestlers competed in the first CHSAA Girls Wrestling State Championships at the Pueblo State Fairgrounds on March 11, 2021. The girls and boys would compete side-by-side the following season in Denver at the Pepsi Center (now Ball Arena) where the CHSAA Girls Wrestling Championships were properly inaugurated before thousands of spectators cheering them on.

2022: 113 wrestlers from 22 teams
